One idea is to have students make numbers with yarn, wikki-stik or play dough to they can practice identifying numbers and which direction they go.

Drive on in

Most of the numbers that are often reversed have an open piece to the left, so I have my students use their left hand (for MOST that's "the hand you don't write with") and try to drive into the garage. If they hit the door it is backwards. If they can get in it's right. It brings it to their level and they love to try to drive in.

I love that idea too. I used this last year and it seemed to work as well.

The open part of the # is the open garage door. If child bumps the # and can't get into the # then it's backwards. Try it with a 3, 5, 2, 7 these are the common backwards ones.
