I know it may seem early, but Christmas wii be upon us before we know it. We do a huge Christmas Around the World unit at our school in first grade. Each day we pretend to visit a different country and we learn about how that country celebrates Christmas. Then we do a craft that goes along with the country of the day. Can anybody give me some great craft ideas for Christmas around the world??? I'm tired of doing the same old things. I've looked on pinterest, but I want ideas that teachers have tried and liked.

We are doing this for the first time this year. My team and I sat and brainstormed ideas today.

Germany - we are decorating our class christmas tree using flowers, lights, gingerbread men, etc. after reading a fact sheet about christmas there. We may go caroling after studying and learning some German xmas songs.

Sweden - We are celebrating on the 13th, St. Lucia day. We are having the students make crowns/wreaths to wear.

Mexico - reading 2 books and making poinsettia's.

I can check my folder at school tomorrow that has all of our ideas written down. We are having a snack related to each country that we study as well. I am on the search for books to go along with a few of the countries we are studying.

For Italy we made a snowflake ornament by quilling paper. The kids really got creative with this technique and enjoyed it. We used pencils to wrap the paper around and string or yarn to hook to hang. Ours were not nearly as fancy at these examples, but I think you get the drift.
