Hello, I have been honored with the task of offciant at a family wedding on Saturday. I feel prepared and look forward to it. It's non tradtional personalized ceremony. I hope to stay in teacher mode and do my highest profile best read aloud. Has anyone any tips for me? Any suggestions are welcome. I should be sleeping but I am a little excited tonight.

My only tip - wedding guests stand when the bride enters. Make sure you remember to tell the audience when they can be seated. The minister forgot at the last wedding I attended. He had to stop and be reminded after everyone stood for waaay to long.

Ask the bride and groom if they have a preference about what you wear. My wedding officiant said she has been asked to wear a variety of things... Jeans for the biker wedding, black and white for a formal wedding, and tan for a beach wedding.

Definitely do not wear prints or anything too bright.

I have done that. A simple blue dress and subtle jewelry.

Her sister wants it to be over the top. What ever that means. The unity ritual is the sharing of the cup as a toast to the union of the families. It will include a handfasting. Lots of flourishes. Thanks for your excitement for us.
