Photo storage advice needed

Would you choose Flickr or ICloud to store family pictures? (Or another site?)

I had a photo bucket account a long time ago but I heard these sites give strangers access to your pics.
Do you have any advice or experience you can share?

I just download mine to my desktop computer and back them up on an external hard drive. So if my house burns down and I can't grab the hard drive I'm in trouble but I prefer to keep them on my own devices. Of course there's also facebook....I could recreate most of my life for the past 10 years from those photos.

If you have a Prime account, you can get free unlimited photo storage. I do that, and pay like $12/year for 100GB for videos. I have the photo app on my phone so it automatically backs up any photos I take.

Thanks! I will look into the prime idea. I already save them on a flash drive but wanted a different type of backup too.

I like Prime’s interface, but their image recognition sucks. If they tag someone incorrectly, there is no way for you to fix the tag. Google Photos is a little clunkier, but does the job. If you have a lot of photos I wouldn’t do iCloud. I refuse to pay for extra storage when both Google and Amazon will give it to me unlimited.

You have to pay, so not free. Out of all the services I have used, Smugmug has the best app. It also doesn't minimize your photo size as a default.
