Clip to ScrapBook #1

Our schoolwide theme is Olympics. The school that I teach at won the Torch Bearer School Award so we decided to tie it in with the Olympics. I need some ideas on bulletin boards and decorations. Thanks in advance!

Welcome: Welcome Athletes to Ms. __________’ Olympic Games or Welcome to an Olympic Year!
History: Cycling Through History (biking) or Tumbling (gymnastics)
Science: In the Spirit of Science or Skating Through Science
Math: Leaping Through our Math Facts or Math Marathon
Reading: Star Readers (American flag) (If you have a class library you could call it the arena)
Writing: Marathon Writers or Writers in Training
Word Study: Winning Words
Data Wall/Board: Going for the Gold or Tracking Data or Dashing Data
Job Board: Help Carry the Torch or Working Together as a Team
Binder/Folder Acronym: F.L.A.G Folder or F.L.A.M.E. Binder (Check out this website for a ton of acronym ideas: http://www.smithsroom.com/MOOSE_Acronyms.htm)
Positive Behavior Support: We’re Racing to the Podium (Use bronze, silver, and gold medals as incentives)
Other ideas:
-Hold an opening ceremony at the beginning of the year and/or every day (class meeting)
-Have desks in teams of 4-6 and hold events (academic reviews) at the end of the week in which teams compete for the most points or medals. This could include a ton of other competitions, even non-academic like minute-to-win it challenges from the TV show. Teams could track their own data, design t-shirts, team names, etc.
-Have your class make up a motto for the year
Other words to play off of: rings, pride/proud, running, swimming, shot, score, equipment, event, represent, compete, country, red/white/blue, strips, honor, goal, victory, hard work, dedication, shoes, uniform, peace, hero, mile, dash, meter
Quick Website search (didn’t check for quality):

Also type in Olympic bulletin boards into a google or bing image search. There are a lot of pics.
