Both preK classrooms at my school have them, though one teacher has hers as much more of a focal point of instruction and decor than the other.

LOVE using word walls and just got a new job teaching pre-k. Thinking names, colors, shapes, environmental print. What other words or good ideas for using the wall with pre-k?

I use it for students names and vocab from the themes I use. The kids also use it during centers.

Command Hooks

I have done MANY different types of word walls. Most of them have been posted on the wall under letters arranged in alphabetical order. However, I did not find success with the wall until I put word cards on metal rings and hung them from small command hooks on the wall above the writing table. Some of the rings had the children's names, thematic words, colors, etc. The alphabet is posted nearby. The children take the word rings down to use and return when finished. Very effective for me.
