So I talked to the VP of the rescue group. Peanut has one family interested, but they have a toddler. Something she hasn't done well with in the past. We're not rushing into anything. They're doing the dog/kid meeting (which doesn't involve Peanut) and going from there.

I think I'm ok if she goes to a really good family. I'm ok if she stays with me.

So basically, no decisions have been made.

Oh, and I found a small hole and a large hole dug next to my house yesterday. Apparently Molly's been teaching her to dig. Monkey see, monkey do. I'm so proud.

I really hope it does work out for her to find a family of her own, but she is in a great place right now. Isn't it amazing what they choose to learn?

I have been waiting! I'm glad you're open to a good family or keeping her. I hope both you and Peanut are happy.

That's the canned response. My real feeling: I hope you keep Peanut.

It always worries me to send a big dog into a home with a toddler when the dog is not used to children. The dog is always the one in trouble if anything happens. Toddlers grab dogs and scare them, and they have no resort but to nip sometimes, especially when they are not raised together.
Peanut is happy with you, and safe. You have to make the decision based on what's best for you, though. I know it's a hard decision. Good luck.

I have been following your Peanut saga from afar. I hope that it all works out for the best.

My Suzy (in my avatar) had a bad experience with small children. Her foster family would have kept her if we didn't adopt her. There were many tears when she left them, and they had 2 older teen boys!

Let me know. I can buy some food or medicines in honor of my pup who just passed.
