NBCT or Doctorate in Education?

Hello! Which would be a more beneficial experience to become a better educator: becoming a National Board Certified Teacher or earning a Doctorate degree in Educational Leadership? What would be the pros and cons of each? I don't see myself working in administration (MAYBE an assistant principal).

NB is the best pd ever. Relatively low $$ and time, and has to be renewed.

A doctorate is lots of $ and time, and is good forever.

A doctorate is recognized outside of education whereas being a NBCT is not, particularly when expired. Many teachers in my district have a doctorate (outside a major city) and only half are coaches or admin.
