I went to the fabric store this morning and my gentleman friend tagged along for company and to run a few errands of his own while we were out. Our local KMart is closing and having a big sale.

GF suggested we stop in to look for bargains. I asked if there was anything in particular he was looking for, since he is not usually a casual shopper.

ďI want to get a full size air mattress in case we want to go camping.Ē

I feel like a college kid planning an opportunity to get away from home with a boyfriend. Traveling together takes the relationship to a whole new level.

We didnít find an air mattress there...but he ordered one on Amazon this afternoon.

This whole relationship gig is weird...like a deja vu of my youth. Except instead of wondering what to tell my parents, Iím wondering what to tell my kids.

NH reached its peak of new cases end of April, and deaths in mid May. We have been steadily declining since. In addition, I live in the county with the lowest number of cases.

We are still cautious, wearing masks indoors, and being as quick as possible when inside stores. This was the first time I entered a store other than a convenience store, grocery store, or local hardware store (where I can get a question answered and get a needed item very quickly) since the pandemic began.

Kids and dating again

I had a couple of single colleagues who went to singles dances frequently. They dragged me along saying it would be fun. (It was funny, not fun) It was late when I arrived home, and standing in the kitchen, looking at his watch was my 18 year old.

Enjoy your new journey. Your kids will adapt. Mine were and are accepting of their step dad (who I did not meet at that singles dance).

bed in our car

We bought a bigger car - Kia Sorrento, took out the middle seat (quite an effort and brilliance on the part of my husband) and put in a mattress from our Ikea guest bed on a frame bought online. We plan to drive to Canada and sleep in the back. We have a son in Canada who is struggling (long story) and also bought a Condo for us all (We are Canadian Citizens from way back, another long story) so think they will let us cross the border!.. The condo will be good for hurricane evacuation - Florida to Ontario just a few days drive. And to escape the heat in summer maybe.

The condo closes at the end of August so September we will be on the road. We will have to quarantine for two weeks in an empty condo but will have a bed and can order online hopefully for food.
It's an adventure for us oldies 74 and 77 who have been at home here in sunny Covid Florida since March!
