I am a Math Specialist in elementary school - our 2nd grade standards include "Understand the property of transitivity as it relates to linear measurement (ex. A longer than B B is longer than C then A is longer than C) My teachers are needing some new activities - anyone have some to share?

That's a tough one! The only thing I could come up with is to put students in groups and write statements like: If John is taller than Suzie, and Suzie is taller than David, then John is taller than David. I would think that a big part of this standard is getting the language right. I would really go over the words like if, then, and than, and I would provide sentence frames until the kids really understand the concept.
