Our district has a chance for a grant up to $4,000 to help students who are below grade level or experiencing difficulty reading:

• Implementing new or expanding existing literacy programs
• Purchasing new technology or equipment to support literacy initiatives
• Purchasing books, materials or software for literacy programs

I'm going to a new school (low performing one) in our district next year as an instructional coach and right now I don't know what they need, but I want to present some ideas to the principal that are "tried and true" in other schools.

What are things you've done specifically that we could try?

Some of my low performers, reading 2nd or 3rd grade in 5th, had success using Lexia to help them fill in phonics gaps.
