3 teacher switch

Looks like we're returning to a 3 teacher team next year in 4th. We did this last year. We had a rough year (students, parent issues mostly...)
One taught reading (me), one math, one s.s. and science. We taught our own homerooms writing and spelling. We have state tests in ELA and math.

What are other ways to switch classes?
I so prefer teaching reading and s.s.! But not math, otherwise I would probably go the self contained route.

When we did that one taught reading, one taught math, and one taught science. All state tested. Everyone taught their own social studies and language arts.

In 4th we are tested in reading, writing, and math, so our 3 way switch does writing/spelling, reading and Social studies, math and science.

LindaOH, you're describing what I'm teaching this year! I'm teaching reading/SS, my colleague teaches math, my other colleague teaches science/writing.

In my school our intermediate grade students only change classes among the grade level team (or interventionists/SPED) for leveled reading (including ESL time) and math groups. Science, social studies, specials, writing, etc. are all done within the homeroom.
In most of the grade levels, the teachers have a different level for reading and math, so the above level reading group teacher has one of the lower math groups. That way no one is tasked with all of the intensive group prep or all of the enrichment prep.
