First Sub Job!

Clip to ScrapBook #1

I have not taught in over a year, since I finished student teaching in 2008. Since then I have been managing my family's business. But.... I now have my first subbing position coming on Tuesday!! ahhh... I've been busy dealing with customers and making t-shirts, that I feel sooo out of sync. Any advice from previous subs?!

Hoping Tuesday will help me regain my love of teaching!!

Currently, I'm going through the process of becoming a sub for the first time after my student teaching experience. I noticed that you subbed for the first time today and was curious how it went? Did you feel overwhelmed or nervous?

I hope that others were able to give you helpful advice!

I'm an experienced teacher who entered the sub pool last year. I found a very helpful book you might want to check out. It's useful for first timers and old hands. Substitute Teaching from A to Z by Barbara Pressman. It's from McGraw Hill.

Hey.. I actually only subbed for half a day.. But like I told my teacher (a good friend), I made it to lunch!! =) It was pretty hectic, mostly because it was the first day back after a 3 day weekend... I also had to introduce new story and spelling words (since it was 2nd)...

Don't let the kids know you're nervous.. That's what someone told me before my first day... Believe me, if you've already student taught, you'll get in the classroom and feel at home!! Good Luck.. Hope it goes well!!
