What is your final record for the year?

The school year ends tomorrow with my latest starting district having their last day.

I will finish with a 181-18 record.

This is not bad, but I did not expect to be shut out the last seven days, so the finish is disappointing.

Did anyone else take advantage of the sick pay law?

I used three sick days, so I got payed for 184 days.

What is the final record for some of you?

I know I will never surpass 2014 when I finished at 190-8.

I only get 100 days/500 hours. I ended up with 96 and also 65 hours as an aide (doesn't count against certified days). Could have finished out the year, but...grandchildren.....

What does 181-18 mean?

I subbed 166.5 days. I went away for a week vacation in March or I would have cracked 170. I t would almost be impossible for me to sub 180 days and I sub for 10 districts in 4 counties. Some districts around here only have 175 days of school and 2-3 will be half days. Another district only goes a half day on Fridays.

I figure I'm at 190 days.

I'm in two districts that don't have off the same days so when one is not in session the other one is. With the shortage of subs where I am I have work every day if I want it.

The first three days of school I subbed for a middle school math teacher that had of take her daughter back to college; the last few days have been teacher or principal requests.

I was unaware of it until I read about it here not long ago. I then verified with my district's human resources department that I do, indeed, have 24 hours banked (the most the district allows). It would have come in very handy in March when I needed time off to care for a relative, but alas, I was unaware of it at the time because the district never notified subs of their eligibility. Wonder why.....

My availability for subbing was heavily impacted by family issues this year, so my days worked have been minimal.

Hopefully your district will carry over your sick days into the next year.

My main district does not carry over sick days, so if you don't use them you lose them.

My other district carries them over for one year only.

I don't know about my 3rd district.

I too am in CA my sick days accumulated are on noted on my check stub. They don't carry over so it is use it or lose it.

I believe I an at about 150/180 this year. Between college drop offs and pick ups and helping out my in laws my dance card has been pretty full, but considering I only covered a few schools this year I am satisfied.

I'm much lower this year! I've always done part-time anyway, but this year I've been helping family members with childcare a lot, so I've been subbing just enough to keep my name in. I didn't use any sick days, and my big district cut off all sub assignments last week for (I guess) budget reasons, so I'm likely done for the year.

Work when I wanted to

I basically sub every day in middle school and/or high school core subjects and a few electives--(no PE, SE and very little math), unless I choose not to work. Due to illness and family medical emergencies, I used about 5 days of sick time this year. I have determined my last day to be Friday the 16th even some of my schools go through the 23rd.

Work days

I only work about 5-6 days per month, August - May 25th or so. Just to supplement my meager Social Security income and another small pension. I live within my means in a small and old mobile home in a senior park. Prob work about the same next school year which begins around second week of August. My school call list is only about 6-7 schools, elementary, of which I prefer 2-3, no Junior High or High School, prefer grades 1-4.

Wow! Subs here can't work every single school day. We have a cap of 150 days and you're done for the year!

You will need to add more districts if you want to surpass 150 days.,
