A couple of days ago, I booked my first sub job for this year. It's not until the first week of September, but that works for me. Kids will have been in school for two weeks by that time, so they should be "broken in" and used to the routines.

Looking forward to e-seeing the regulars again, and welcoming new subs to the board. Where did summer go?

I am glad I checked out this thread.

it inspired me to check on some early job possibilities.

I just got a two day 1st grade job on September 5 and 6 at my latest starting district.

I did not expect this.

Good on ya! We need to support one another, b/c we know we won't always get validation at work.

Thanks, just added four more days in succession at the same school

I am glad one school is showing some love since I am blocked from four other schools in this district

I'll be done at the end of September

I hate when my old Special Ed supervisor asks me to sub. I knew something was up when I got a text from her while I was on vacation. I took the job, but found out last week that Social Security may impact how much I am allowed to earn this year. I found out this week that the earnings I had from January to April of last year count against my 2017 allowed earnings. So, unless they hire someone for the position (and one person has already applied) I will be done September 29th. For some reason that doesn't bother me at all. I'll have the rest of the school year to practice living on only TRS and SS. If that works and I'm able to put that money into savings, I'm going to either limit my subbing next year or not sub at all.

how money earned in 2016 counts as income for 2017. That doesn't make sense, even for the government.

Wow, so many of you start school early. We don't start until after Labor Day. But I think I'll go check the job listing, sounds like there might be some jobs there already.
