haven't had text books in years for SS in the 4th grade and it is really frustrating. We've been using a hodgepodge of stuff. For this coming year we are using a social studies newspaper thing. (I can't remember what it is called). One of the 4th grade teachers used it last year and really like it. the program is supposed to cover almost all the glces. I hope you find a book you like. Our 3rd grade uses the Michigan book and they like it. 5th grade uses the history alive or something like that - Our junior high uses the same series. I don't know that they are really all that thrilled with it. Happy book hunting! Keep us posted, if the newspaper thing doesn't work, I'm hoping they'll look into text books for us. There is such a variety of stuff we have to cover in 4th, I don't know if there is a book that covers everything.
