instead of poetry journals

In the past I have had poetry journals for my children. Whenever we do a poem they get a copy and paste it in their journal. Upon examining this I have come to the conclusion that they do not get enough time with the poems. Therefore, I have decided to laminate the poems as we do them and put them through a ring and send them back and forth in their chairbag so they can "see" the poems and read them more frequently. Does anyone do this in their classrooms and if so, is it successful?
