So after a few years of doing Morning Meeting, I finally realized that I need benches instead of having 30 kids on the carpet in a circle.
Do you know where I can get cheap benches? I had a relative make me one, but he can't due to an injury. Any ideas?

I've felt bad for your little unanswered post. Then, I thought about how my children always try to sit on top of my milk crate bookshelves (and sometimes do before I catch them!). I'm not sure if these are strong enough but it is worth looking into...Good luck!

Hi,
I agree with your idea about fitting kids on the carpet, in my case a tile floor, no rug allowed.
I remember seeing milk crates that someone had made plywood "tops" for. I think they were attached with zip ties. There was a hole drilled in each side of the wood and then attached to the crate, or maybe just 2 holes drilled in the back, so it could be used for storage too.
I wish I could remember where I saw it. Maybe you could google "milk crate seats" and see if you find anything. I just remember seeing a picture of a classroom and the teacher had these around the edge of rug for calendar/story time.

Hope this helps. I think I'm going to experiment with this during the summer.

All the inginuity(sp) that we have to make, improve, create a better environment for our students. DO other jobs have such dedicated employees? Doubt it. We really care about our kids. Stress out about our kids, want a better homelife for our kids, yet we still are overpaid and not doing enough. We have to be a mother, couselor, psychologist, cleaner upper, thoughtful friend, etiquette teacher, positive role model. --- THe list goes on.
