Harry Potter-- no spoilers

Well, it took me 7 hours of straight reading but I finished. Now I'm waiting for someone else I know to finish so I can discuss. Sigh. All I will say is she did really well IMO. Now I want to go back and reread it but probably not for a few weeks. I always pick up on more stuff the second (and third and fourth) time I read them. They're just so full of information and clues. Happy reading everyone!

Less than 300 pages to go. Gimme tonight and I'll be ready to discuss! I can't get uniterrupted time and then we had a bad storm and lost power! I couldn't read by candlelight! UGH!

You had 7 hours to yourself? Wow! My book arrived an hour ago and I have started reading the first 20 pages. It will be a while between housekeeping, cooking, and Internet browsing.

For what it's worth, I live alone I don't know what I would've done if I had a husband, kids or even a roommate to deal with. I guess I'd be on page 100 or so, but since I do live alone, if meals don't get cooked, beds don't get made or I don't change out of my jammies, no one's really going to know any different.

but I haven't had much time. Laundry to do, breakfast and lunch to make, floors to sweep- actually answering the phone (don't know what possessed me to answer the phone while I was reading HP), children to acknowledge every now and then....but I am just starting chapter 9- so far it is VERY good!

I finished a few hours ago. We got our (3) books at midnight and I read in the wee hours until I couln't keep my eyes open. My husband made us readers breakfast and lunch! I thought JK did a fabulous job. I laughed, I cried. It was extremely satifying.

I am waiting to read

the book - my 11 yr old DS is reading it and hides it so I can not read it until he is done- and I am not going to buy another copy.....but I console myself with the fact that I did not read any of the other books prior to seeing the movies and still found the book intriguing and answering a lot of questions and so it shall be with the final book......It is going to be hard if there are revealing reviews in papers and the JK Rowling interviews on TV this week and haven't had a chance to read the book - any one have a spare book I can borrow?????????

Went to Borders at 8 when it opened. Read until afternoon, went to dinner, and then finished. What a great book. I also want to read it again to pick up on stuff I may have missed.

I read from midnight until 5:00. I just couldn't stop! Then I woke up at 9:30 and read all day. I just finished at 7:00. I absolutely LOVED it. JK did an awsome job bringing it to a close, as well as answering LOTS of questions! :-)

I got it last night at 12. I set a time limit on myself, though, and only read 'til 2. I didn't start again really until about 10. I finished around 6. I loved it, too. I laughed, I cried, I can't believe it's over!

...got the book about 11:00 a.m. and read straight through to the end. All my questions were answered. Now there's that letdown feeling because it's the LAST book. ***sigh***

Crying

Clip to ScrapBook #17

I cried during two particular chapters - don't want to give anything away. I thought the beginning was kind of slow but parts of the book were so touching and unexpected. I would have been done earlier but I got the book this morning at 9:00 and was reading by 9:30. I had to stop at 11:30 this morning to go take my final teaching license test. I didn't get home until almost 5:00 and all through the test I kept thinking about the book.

I private messaged a few readers who had said they were done and I think we agree that tomorrow is a good time to start posting... with a warning about spoilers of course. What does everyone else think?

I agree, it was well done.. I cried to.. several times

Another board I visit set up discussions by chapter so we could discuss as we read 1-9, 11-19, 20-29, 30-Epi., this way those who wanted to discuss could stay within the chapters they'd finished.. just a thot.

I truly believe this was her best piece of work! The ride of emotions I felt throughout the entire book was just amazing. Her writing talent just amazed me! I finished it early this morning and feel a sense of meloncholy about it being over yet feel satisfied as well. Excellent job to J.K. I can't wait to get back into my classroom and discuss it with students who have read it as well. I can see having luncheons with students to have book talks. This will only encourage those who have not read it to do so! I can't wait to read it again!

I have never been so happy and so sad in my life ... I feel like I have said a final goodbye to one of my oldest and dearest friends. I finished at about 4am this morning, after having to stop yesterday to take the Multi-Subject CST ... I couldn't stop thinking about the book all through the test! I would love to ask a question and see what you all think, but this says no spoilers so I'll stick to that! We should start another thread for those who have finished to discuss!
