Clip to ScrapBook #1

Hi everyone,
I am going to be spending half of my day in the middle and high school as a reading support teacher. It is a new position for my school district. I have been an elementary teacher and elementary reading teacher for the past 15 years. Anyone have ideas for how I can structure my small groups, resources I can use. TIA

I teach high school and I like to use literature circles with reading...if you google literature circles there are all sorts of variations and materials for them. The kids seem to like them and they keep everyone engaged and accountable. I have also used them in middle school. Hope they work for you!

Depends on your population. I would hope you would start with the special ed non readers and then progress upwards based on ability. Any non diploma students should be pulled out of any class to have one on one services, only group when it is appropriate. Other diploma track low readers from sp ed most likely have a period during the day where pull out could take place. Non sp ed also pull out.
