Read aloud recommendation featuring a girl as the main character??

Looking for a recommendation for my next read aloud for 4th grade. I'd like to read a good book with a female main character (our last two read alouds were boy characters, Fourth Grade Rats and Freak the Mighty).

Thoughts?

No Talking! by Andrew Clements

It's funny, and the kids really love it. The main character is a boy, but the secondary character is a girl. Lyndsey and Dave are the two "leaders" in the story.

If you can get them into historical fiction, Libby is a great story about a young girl working in a factory during the industrial revolution. There are some funny parts, but students are amazed at the jobs that children had during the 1800s.

I enjoy both Fish in A Tree by Lynda Mullaly Hunt, as already suggested and Out of My Mind by Sharon Draper. Both have strong female main characters and provide lots of discussions.

Try Hook's Revenge by Heidi Schulz. The premise is that Captain Hook of Peter Pan fame has a daughter who must avenge his death. My students LOVE it. It has plenty of fun, with a a big life lesson embedded in the main story line.

The Fairy Rebel by Lynn Reid Banks is one of my favorites.
The main characters are a fairy, a disabled woman, and the woman's daughter.
There is a male fairy and the woman's husband.
When I read this, it is usually the boys who ask me to keep reading more than the girls.

Thank you all for all the wonderful suggestions! I'll have read alouds set for the reminder of the year!

My school library just got in Fish in a Tree today so I quickly swiped it (with the librarian's permission) which saves me a trip to Barnes and Nobles!

I'll definitely be checking out the other recommendations too!
