Urgent Prayer Request Update #2

We are not as hopeful.

--They took him off the respirator for just a minute to see what he would do. He did nothing. He did not even try to breath.

--They just took him to do a "dye test" that will show if there is any brain activity.

--If there is no activity, they will let him go to heaven.

Once again thanks for all of the prayers.

How absolutely devastating. There are no words that I can even say to you other than I am praying for all of you.

and just read your posts. I usually don't respond to pray request threads. I have no idea why. I guess, I never know what to say. I went to seminary to be a Presbyterian minister and even in all my studies and experiences there is never a "right" thing to say. One lesson I learned was to just sit with the family. You can't make it better but you can be a willing ear. It is in the things that people say like "It is God's will" or "He is in a better place" that seems so shallow even trite when there is pain.

It is the human nature to want to ease pain and it is in that meaning well that we often miss the ticket on what to say. I have no words that are any better.

I have a five year old and this story made me cry real tears. There is a psalm that has given me peace many times in my life. While it reads like a battle prayer there is a part in Psalm 91 that says "Those who love me I will deliver. I will protect those who know my name. When they call me I will answer them. I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue them and honor them." So for me, even in hard times or troubled time, there is reassurance that we are not alone. Even in devastation.

How quick we brush off little falls with our children. I have done it eight million times. There is nothing logical or rational about any of this... that something so strange could befall a child and anyone one of us on this board it could have happened too. I will be praying with the others.
