Chair pockets for high schoolers

Clip to ScrapBook #1

I have 33 students in 5 of my 6 classes, and only a couple of my desks have baskets to hold their textbooks. I was trying to think of a way to store the textbooks without them ending up all over the floor and thought about chair pockets. I have only seen those used in primary ed, so I was wondering if any other high school teachers had ever used or known anyone else to use them (or any clue as to how the students might react to them). Thanks!

Our students are allowed backpacks. Those without just put their books under the seats. I envision chair pockets either getting ruined quickly, or holding things I wouldn't want in there!

I would have a specific place assigned in the room for the book to go up by the end of the period. Each period so that you can know if any go missing. I would also put on book covers and have them numbered. Assign each student a number, so if the books become missing or damaged you know where to start. It takes a little more work at the beginning but the students at this age need to be accountable.
