Would this be a good read aloud for 3-4 th grade students?

Not in my opinion. Most reviews suggest mature 10 year olds and up. I have a thing, though, about teachers that use middle and high school level books inappropriately (again, my opinion) with younger students. My very adult book club read it a number of years ago at the suggestion of one of the members. It's not always an easy book to follow but as an adult I found it fun and scary. The illustrations/photographs add a great deal of interest.

I've only seen the trailer for the movie in theaters, but it looked like they had spookied the book up considerably in the movie version.

I think it's too mature for 3rd and 4th graders.

It's my daughter's favorite book (she's 15) and she is so psyched for the movie!

I would have to agree with not a good choice for all of the above said reasons.

No, not a good choice. Great book for older readers, though. My SIL and I both enjoyed it and are looking forward to seeing the movie.

Common Sense Media actually recommends it for 14+ https://www.commonsensemedia.org/boo...uliar-children

I won't carry it in my classroom library in 5th.

Agreed with everyone else here. I am reading it myself right now and the language is just inappropriate in an elementary school setting. Now, for you to read, it is FANTASTIC! I am loving it...just wouldn't read it to my 5th graders, let alone 3rd.
