How much do you spend on TPT? I have a new grade next year and I have a small fortune in my cart right now. I'm trying to decide what I really need.

I do spend quite a lot especially on clip art and other elements for creating products. As for classroom resources, I spend a lot too.

I spend way too much on TPT and my classroom in general and fully acknowledge that. Usually I spend hundreds (yes hundreds), between TPT and classroom materials, each summer prepping for the school year. Next year I'm moving out of the classroom for a brand new position at our school and I'm hoping to spend a whole heck of a lot less. This summer I've spent only $50 ($10 was on TPT) and I go back Aug. 1. I'm pretty proud of how little I've spent and I don't have plans to purchase anything else. I usually am super excited for BTS sales to start at the stores. After packing up my classroom (because of new position) and seeing how much crap I have, I couldn't care less about the sales.

Like most people, I've spent too much on TPT. I have a wish list which I go through every once in awhile and purge. I'm really trying not to impulse buy just because it's on sale. My other weakness are books.

I don't spend anything. I've learned that my curriculum plus whatever worksheets I can find for free or in books in the teacher's lounge are suffice. I also make a lot of my own things.

I spend a lot of money on scrapbook paper because I like to recreate my classroom theme each year. I have a Cricut and I make it all myself.

$0 I've never bought anything on TPT.

What are the usual big ticket items that everyone spends on? I'm curious because this topic comes up a lot.

I have never bought anything from them. If I can't find it for free, I won't use it.

Plus, our curriculum is pretty set and I rarely had to augment.

I have spent a lot over the years, but I am trying to curb it I now only buy from sellers that I completely trust and know that they have rigorous, high quality work without the fluff...so that has helped to stop some spending

I've probably only spent $15 total since it's inception. If I can't find it for free or for a minimal cost I don't buy it. The only time I spend money is if it's something I'm going to make myself anyway, and it's worth my time to just purchase it.

Whatever I have spent in the past this year I will be spending very little on tpt. Last year was was first year as a reading intervention teacher with no program and a brand new language arts adoption with 1 day of training. so. . . I supplemented a lot. I did create notebooks to be reused and I have unpacked our new program considerably so I should be ok.

I make use of their "wishlist" feature a lot. It helps me to put something on the list, and then go back later and decide if it's a must have.

One of the ways that I've really cut back the amount that I'm personally spending on TpT is to have a lot of my classroom budget (provided by my school) put onto a TpT gift card.

If I can't get it for free, I don't need it. There are always many ways to teach a topic or a specific standard. It doesn't have to look pretty to be effective. I prefer black and white items without all the scrolls and clip art. I only spend money on what makes me smile, posters or organization items. Things that I have to print out to enjoy are not my idea of money saving. Once I have access to a color printer at school and a gift card to TPT, then I may consider purchasing items.

I have spent a disgusting amount of money in the past few years. I'm embarrassed by that, because, more-often-than-not, I end up not even using the product I bought!! There are a few big ticket items that I do use, but that's about it.

Now, before I purchase ANYTHING, I seriously think about how I could possibly use it, and even ask myself, "Sassy, is this something you would truly use, or is it going to sit in your computer for its entire life?" Usually that keeps me from purchasing more than I should.

Unless it's an item that you can absolutely use and you can picture exactly how you'd use it, don't waste the money!!!

Oh!! And just because it's cute and "Oh my gosh, I just love it!!" doesn't mean you should by it either. (Been there, done that...TOO MANY TIMES!!)
Don't fall for the cuteness!

I try to stick with sellers that produce items that follow my state standards. And consider that my time has a monetary value too, so if I can buy it pretty cheaply, I spend less time on my computer and more time to do things with my family.

If I look on there I make sure that I'm only searching for free items. I've gotten some pretty decent stuff for free. I'm okay with my materials not being "cute" so I'm not tempted by most of the stuff.

In the past three years I have spent maybe $6. They were on things that I knew I would have to make anyway and $1 or $2 was worth the hours I didn't have to spend making them.

I try to always use what is available to me first. Other than that I try to do hands on work. I also agree that things don't have to be cute. The purpose is for students to learn.

I don't care so much about cute, but I get a lot of stuff for literacy centers and math centers. I never have enough of those. I spend more on ink, though, than on the activities themselves.

Nothing. Most of the stuff on TPT doesn't fit my curriculum or doesn't fit the culture of my district. Second, many things on TPT can be found for free or made very cheaply. I think it's overpriced.

I spent about $50 on some interactive notebooks by Lovin' Lit. I loved them, but now I am only teaching math this year. So, I don't know if it was worth it for 1 year of use. If I was still teaching Language Arts, I wouldn't feel so guilty.

Not very much anymore. If there was a way to preview the entire purchase(as if I was in a bookstore) I would be inclined to use the site a bit more. I am weary of the "gambling" approach to purchasing where most of the time I lose. The reviews are not trustworthy enough at all to gauge whether or not a product is worth the money.

Mrs. Susko, I'm so glad to see that you loved the interactive notebook stuff from Lovin' Lit! I have it all in my wish list right now...was hesitating because I didn't know how much to trust the reviews there on TPT!
