Got my class list!

Kids start tomorrow.
Out of 16 kids I have 7 IEPs, 3 of which have to have a full-time TA because of behavior. I have 2 students who are above the 50%. 7 who are at the 7% or below (not necessarily the same as the IEPs).
WOO-HOO! Going to be a great year!
Seriously, though, I'm super-excited.

Above the 50th percentile for reading and/or math. In this case, both.

Thanks. I guess what I'm wondering is they are above the 50th percentile on what measure? A screener? A district assessment?

We have a screener that we use, but that's the only thing we (my wife and I both teach elementary) have that gives us a percentile ranking.

It’s always interesting to me how districts vary.

MAPS and PEAKS. So the precentile is taken from there.

Most of my IEPs are pulled for resource most of the day.
Our whole school is basically inclusion. 15% of our students scored above the 50% percentile for math in MAPS. Reading was a little lower.
40% of students are ELL.

I have this class because several of the students require a full-time TA. So these students must be in the same class because we don't have enough TA's.
Also, I have extensive experience with difficult behaviors: ODD, IED, ADHD, Autism, and various mental health issue in childhood. I don't have a SPED cert, or any kind of degree, but I have a son with mutiple issues (all of the above, along with Bi-polar disorder), and have spent most of the past 20 years working with children with these issues.
