Is EdHelper Worth the Cost?

Clip to ScrapBook #1

I'm trying to decide if I should renew my subscription to EdHelper.com. I used to have it a number of years ago, but let it lapse when the price went up. I have a couple of kids in my class for whom I am currently making a lot of differentiated materials each week on my own and I'm wondering if it is worth my while to just bite the bullet and become a member again. There used to be a lot more freebies that you could access without membership, but that doesn't seem to be the case now and to get access to all of the resources the cost is $39.95 each year.

Anyone out there in PT land have an opinion one way or the other? Are there any other good alternatives that are free?

Thanks for your help.

I was a member through my school for a couple of years and I used it some but if I had to pay for it myself I probably wouldn't have.
Sorry.

I had thought about signing up a while back and asked around too. Majority said it's not really worth it. Better to buy workbooks or make the handouts yourself. I didn't join.

My school paid for the membership because several of us wanted access. I have only used it for novel studies, because I teach the reading component of language arts. It was worth it.

I had Edhelper for a year. I used it regularly, but I'm not registering again for it. I could pretty much find the things I used somewhere else on the the 'net' for free.

I think it is, mainly because you can make all those worksheets using your own word lists. I also love that I can go right to the site and print out a review sheet for kids, while I am in class. So I pay for it every year.

I think edhelper is worth it. I use it to create spelling worksheets for homework and review, and I also use it for review in general, it's very helpful during times that I need a sub.

In addition to worksheets and review sheets, I use it to keep my grades. I teach upper elementary and it is wonderful for me to be able to have it compute grades for me, but especially right before a parent conference!

It is Worth it to Me

simply because of the Vocabulary. I love putting in the words we are studying and having it spit out definitions AND sentences. I hate making up my own sentences. I also like the vocab quizzes and puzzles. As for the rest of the site, and in particularly, the novel units-- I can do much better on my own.

It is worth it to me too. Our Principal purchased if for the elementary hallway. (I teach at a private school) We also use the online grade book. I LOVE IT. No more computing averages.
I also like the vocabulary and puzzle making features.

I use it a lot, especially to print out practice sheets at different levels to pravtice the same skill. It's much easier than hunting down books at multiple levels, or making up my own.
