Sight Word Template

Clip to ScrapBook #1

Many years ago, I had students color in a segment of a picture of a puzzle that had a sight word in every section. They colored in the section once they knew the word. When they colored in all the sections on a page, they got a reward. For instance, it might be a picture of a robot divided into sections with a sight word in each section. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? I don't even know how to phrase it to do a google search. And, what I'd really like is a website that would allow me to customize the words in such "puzzle".

Sight Words Coloring Sheets

Try googling 'Color by Sight Words' or 'Sight Words Coloring Sheets'.

You can find a few SW picture coloring pages for free download here:

http://www.onlycoloringpages.com/sig...eets/6800.html

The Moffatt Girls have some on TPT for Pre-K to Grade 1 but you have to purchase them ($8 sale price at the moment)-

Starfall has this generator where you can choose your own words from 10 different provided lists but there is only one basic picture. Suits lower Primary grades.

Thank you AussieBird. The the Onlycoloringpages and Moffatt Girls pages are what I am looking for except I to be able to insert and change the words. I wonder what program or software would let me do that.

I saw some other free
'Color by Sight Word' pages on TPT here:

Jule, I have not found a generator that will allow fillable and editable sections of a picture. However, someone may come up with an answer.

I have made my own pages in the past by copying an existing page onto MS Paint, erasing the words and then typing my own words and dragging the box into the chosen sections. A bit tedious but it works well if the sections are not too small or too numerous. You can do this quite quickly after a bit of practice. Also vary the font.

Here's a quickly done before /after example I made on Paint:

Here's the quickest and easiest method to make you own 'Color by Sight Words' pages using MS Paint and all free materials. Instructions are on the attachment. You just erase any left over words, if any, and copy the finished picture onto a Word Doc.

Thank you so much for your help. I have a Mac and I had never heard of MS Paint, but through a lot of googling I discovered that OS X has a secret paint program - can you believe it? - which allowed me to type text on an image. I took a picture of a coloring book page and added some sight words, I'll have to find some better pictures, but I think I can make this work.
