Feeling guilty

I woke up with a horrible headache, went to dr. and am now on meds for ear and sinus infection. I canceled my job for tomorrow. Now I feel guilty. I keep telling myself I could have toughed it out. The teacher now has to find a last minute replacement. For the salary I get, I should not feel like I let her down.

Lose the guilt, girl! Of course you couldíve toughed it out, but subbing means you donít have to. No one is going to burst into flames because you canceled the job, but even if they do, that means you no longer have to worry about them at all. Hee, hee.

Feel better soon.

They have PLENTY of time to get a replacement. It isn't good to be sicker than the teacher you are subbing for.

I've toughed it out and had teachers complain that I was infecting the whole school. So now instead of being a team player and sucking it up and going in I take a day off.

Never tough it out, itís not worth it. They donít pay us enough or even care about us, so there is that to think about.

I donít tough it out for any school anymore. If Iím sick, Iím sick. I donít get sick too often, but if Iím not feeling well I stay home and rest. No one cares, it doesnít matter how many scrapes Iíve pulled them out of.

I guess if itís the morning of and right before the assignment that is the only time I will go in. There have been a few nights where I couldnít sleep or felt slightly crappy, but I wait too long to cancel online and donít want to bail on them right when they are opening up the school.

They'll live.

Remember they can cancel on us at the drop of a hat, and they sometimes do.

I'd only feel bad if you were a frequent canceller type, and it sounds like you definitely aren't. So don't worry about it one bit.

Your health is far more important than pleasing a school for a day.

As subs we don't earn any brownie points for showing up sick.

Don't feel bad, sinus issues are terrible. Stay home and rest. Get a neti pot if you haven't, by the way. The things work wonders for my sinuses.

I only canceled when PG&E turned off my electricity! No, really, I've done it a couple of times for very good reasons. Stuff happens to everybody. If you're like me, you'll feel worse about it than they do!

Well, Iím feeling really guilty right now too. I have a really bad cold and have been in bed all weekend; I had to cancel my job today, and I just canceled on tomorrow. It feels SO awful canceling, and it was at the same school both days (different classes though). Iím in pain and canít talk, and the list of cold symptoms goes on forever, so Iím trying not to feel guilty. But I still do. ☹️
