Iím looking/ needing to get a new car soon. The deals right now are pretty good, at least in my area.

Does anyone have recommendations for a small SUV? Iíve done a lot of research but itís hard to see much difference in the different makes and models!

Thank you!

(I know this subject has come up before but I couldnít find previous posts!)

Check out the RAV4. I test drove one, but it was too small for me. I ended up with the Highlander instead.

After researching for a few months, I decided on an Outback. I don't think I'd consider it an SUV, but it is all wheel drive and can go off road.

How small/big are you wanting?

I love my Mazda CX5. It's the smallest of it's class, with a luxury feel.

I LOVE my Nissan Rogue! I bought it 6 years ago, but I test drove almost every vehicle in the class before deciding on it. It just felt right and the view outside the back window was much better than many others in my opinion.

Iíve had a lot of luck with Nissan Murano. My last one I only traded in because it had 130,000 miles on it. Never in the shop for anything but regular maintenance and tires. So I got another one and I hope it lasts me just as long.

I had a Chevy Equinox as a loaner when my car was getting new tires. I had it for a day and I LOVED it. I'm not a "big car" type driver, but after I got used to it, I loved it so much and didn't want to give it up.

Subaru Forester. The best car I have ever driven. I have had suburuís since 1978! They are SO dependable.

Another vote for Subaru Forester. I have a 2015 and have never had any issues. It's driven across the country, and my hubby slept in the back and said it was reasonably comfortable! When I was searching for cars back in 2015 I did all sorts of research and narrowed my choices down to the Honda CR-V and the Subaru Forester. The moment I got into the Forester I knew it was right for me. It sits up just high enough, and you have great vision all around.

I love my CRV but our family is quickly becoming a Subaru Outback or Subaru Forrester family. My brother, sister, and niece all love their Subarus. My next car will def be either a Forester or Outback, and Iíve only ever owned Hondas.

that was another reason I chose to buy a Subaru Forester. We had ALWAYS had a Honda or Acura, and I wanted to try a different brand. We haven't been sorry!

I went with the Nissan Rogue Sport. Bigger than a car, but smaller than the true Nissan Rogue. If I had the money though I would have bought a Honda HR-V. I liked it more, but it was 6,000 more.

I just bought one a few weeks ago and got lots of great advice here. I ended up getting the CX5, I loved the way it drove and it has a high end look and feel inside. We did lots of research first. I love it

Nissan Rogue. Great gas mileage, comfy and stylish. I've had it two years the end of the month. It's been my favorite vehicle I've had in 50 years!

and I donít like it. Iím tall and itís too small for me. Itís a bumpy ride IMHO. The road noise when driving on the highway is pretty loud. Not a fan.

We just bought a Hyundai Tucson SEL with the 2.4 liter engine last week. Love it. The 2.0 liter engine just didn't have quite enough power for DH. This is our second Hyundai. We traded our 2009 Sonata for this Tucson. We've never owned a vehicle with so many bells and whistles. Did I mention I love my Tucson?

Here's another vote for the Mazda Cx-5. It really does feel more luxurious than the price would make you expect. I paid a bit extra for their red color, which is such a good red that people stop me in parking lots to comment on it! It has a shimmery quality in person. :O)

We have always had good luck with our Hyundai vehicles -- and we have a lot of them.

Tuscon 2007 --- has nearly 340,000 kilometres --- never any problems. Best vehicle ever, but sadly its' days are numbered.

Hyundai Sante Fe 2014 --- good vehicle, more room than Tuscon

Hyundai Sante Fe 2017 --- great vehicle, love all the safety features. Didn't think the driver assist things would matter. I will never buy another vehicle that doesn't have side mirror/blind spot warnings, good back-up camera etc.

Hyundai Kona 2020 --- My DD plans to buy a Hyundai Kona. It is a small SUV but will be the right size for her and her needs. She was going to purchase during March Break but we went into "stay-at-home". She will likely purchase in the next few weeks.

Rogue and Equinox in my family
Old 06-02-2020, 02:23 PM
  #26

We have a 2020 Nissan Rogue and my DD has a 2018 Chevy Equinox. We love both. I traded in my Buick Enclave for the Rogue and honestly, the only things I miss are the V6 engine and the 3rd row option (we don't need a 3rd row really). It handles well, the front seats are just as comfortable. I can't complain at all.

5 other teachers at my school drive Rogues. One teacher is planning to buy his 3rd.

We got the 2018 Equinox for our college-age DD a few weeks ago. It feels a bit roomier than the Rogue, seems to have more "pick up" when accelerating, but also is not as quiet inside the car.

The back up camera beeps on the Rogue, but not the Equinox. It is a small thing.

Another for Nissan Rogue! It's a nice size...not big, but not too small. I feel nice and safe in it.
