I feel like a brand new person today.

I got a manicure, a pedicure, and an eyebrow wax today.

I bet that does feel good, a real spirit booster. I get my hair cut and colored next Thursday plus an eyebrow wax. I can't wait.

She let DH come in to get his ears waxed, too.

The dogs went to the groomer yesterday. We are all looking spiffy.

Oh those are down endlessly here. Salons say they’ve opened but no one is open. I found a friend to cut my hair on Sunday. Best it will get in San Luis Obispo.

New protocols for nail salons?

Lucky you! I am sooo ready to get back to my nail salon! Unfortunately my nail person had surgery for cancer a few months before everything closed down, so she's definitely going to take her time returning.

Please let us know what changes they had to make post coronavirus. Our salons are not quite open yet.

It really wasn’t much different than usual.

Only one client at a time. There are only two stylists in the shop, and one only works part time. It is rare when anyone else was there anyway. Waited in car outside until she was ready. She disinfects between clients, which she already did.

No sitting area. Every client has to have his/her own tools if they can’t be sterilized, so now I have my own baggie with a nail file. Masks worn.

Everything opened on 25th. She has worked 12 hour days all week to get her regular clients in.

I do like my nails looking good, but I also really need a pedicure. I have diabetes and neuropathy, so she makes sure my feet are in good shape . . . and she’s way cheaper than my podiatrist.

My hair salon opened on Thursday and I'm hoping to get an appointment today. It's been 12 weeks since I've had it cut, and, I usually go every four to five weeks.
I I did ask about safety Protocols they are using and it sounds okay.

I have to wait until June 26 for a cut and color. I should be pretty wild and crazy looking by then! That will be almost 4 months from my last cut and color.

phase. Our salons open today, but I am not rushing in. We are barely in Phase 2, still can't go anywhere, and I have a lot of scarves to put over my "aging hippie" hair.

Until I know I can go out to dinner or dancing or ANYWHERE besides long walks with my friends, I think I will just save my $$. I was invited to an online Mary Kay makeup party the other night. I am going to order moisturizer (Why, I don't know, I have a drawer full). Just want to be supportive to the party-giver.

Meanwhile, I just found out that my chiropractor is actually open, so I WILL be running over there next week.

Are not open here yet. My nails are a big mess! Our governor is taking things slow, and that is reflected in our numbers.

I got my hair done and eyebrows waxed yesterday. My hair wasn’t a big deal but did I need waxing. They changed the configuration of the stations, only one person per customer, mask worn at all times, face guard if you had your mask off for waxing and they sanitized everything between customers.

Feel like a new woman

So jealous!! Our state is slowly moving in that direction, but each county has to meet certain criteria. My county hasn’t. I did volunteer as tribute with my hairdresser to do a trial run before she opens up again.

Might be able to get a pedicure in a week or two.

Ours have all opened but my county is going wild with new cases. I broke down and asked my MIL a retired hair stylist to cut my bangs and thin the back of my head out. She gladly did it for me.

Glad you mentioned this! I had heard about needing to take in my own tools, so I'll have to start gathering what I'll need.

What, no before and after photos?
I'll bet that feels really great! I'm looking forward to a professional cut and color, since I've been doing my own. I'm going to tough it out until the beginning of July, when we have a couple of trips planned and might see some actual people that we don't live with!

I won’t be doing that for a while even though ours opened up yesterday. My husband wen to get his hair cut, and had to wait three hours to get in. Some salons in other areas are fully booked through July. Another reason to wait until the novelty dies down a bit.

Lucky you! It must have felt a little normal. We are in phase one and barely anything is open. My hair stylist caked me Friday. I’ve been going to her for 19 years. The salon has done everything they can to make it safe. They are waiting on the governor to reopen. Her salon will be open seven days a week, 12 hours a day so they can catch up with clients and half the staff working at a time. I told her to book her demanding people first and then she can see me. I need a hair cut and color, but I can wait. I may wait a while for a pedicure. I’m not going anywhere any time soon. I just do it myself.

Pedi and haircut

I got a pedi last week, and a highlight and haircut this week. I feel much, much better. The salons had protocols in place and I felt fine with keeping my mask on.

I got my hair cut & thinned, then colored a week ago last Tuesday. I was sooo ready for one. I had several times forced myself to walk far away from the scissors. I had stopped even trying to blow dry mine because it had gotten so thick that it took forever & it flipped everywhere anyway. What was the point in wasting the electricity for that look? I know I felt like a new woman afterward. We both wore our masks the whole time & you had to call when you got in the parking lot to see if they were able to take you yet. They had to sanitize between each customer and no one was allowed to wait. You could not bring a drink nor your purse, just your money and your phone so you could make the next appointment. It was a bit tricky with the mask on, but we both just dealt with it the best we could.
Did you feel like the mask was much of a problem?

Were you nervous?

I'm so conflicted. We have been social distancing to the max, but yesterday my nail lady texted me and said that she'd be back on Tuesday. My nails are terrible right now because they're so weak.

I don't think I'll go quite yet, though.

I bet you do indeed! I am in desperate need of all of that, but unfortunately my nail tech works at shop in a mall and they aren't open yet.

No, I wasn’t nervous.

I know her really well, so I was comfortable with her cleaning practices. She’s also a neighbor, and I know they haven’t been out & about and socializing.

We just had our first diagnosed case yesterday, so that makes me feel better, too.

I wouldn’t have gone to a regular nail salon yet.
