Losing my partner next year

My partner just called and she is taking a leave of absence next year. I am absolutely heartbroken!! I'm not at all surprised, but I'm still just devastated. We've been job sharing for 8 years and it is the best job in the whole world. She is my other half, the person I lean on for everything, and such a good friend. With all of the uncertainty surrounding next year, this is such a blow.

ETA: I'm not going to get a new partner, will just go full time. The only upside will be the extra $.

I'm sorry! That is a long time to be sharing, and it will be really hard to "break in" a new partner. I hope you get someone wonderful. I can only imagine how hard this is - especially in the current climate of uncertainty.

I am glad that you are able to go F/T without having to break in a new partner.

Oh, this is so hard. In my experience, it was close to,losing a family member. Good luck going full time.

I understand how you feel. That happened to me, and it was hard learning to work with someone new, because the former partner was fabulous. She went to a different school - couldn't stand the politcs in ours.

I wish you luck, but as someone here said, at least you don't have to break in a new one right now. That could be pretty stressful.

Sorry you are loosing your partner. It is good you understand her reasons and hopefully you can remain friends. Being able to go full time and not have to adjust to a new partner in uncertain times is a blessing. One less stress from how I look at it.

Iím not looking forward to someone new, though Iím trusting God has a good plan.
Hopefully the FT position will be joyful for you, in the end.

feel for you in the loss of your teaching partner. I know this is hard-that is a long time to work with the same person. The upside is-you wonít have to try to break in a new partner and you will receive more dollars. I know you would rather your partner stay-that is the silver lining.

Not to hijack your post, but to let you know you are not alone. My teaching partner and one of my best friends resigned. We have been side by side for 12 years. Vacations, life mild stones, etc.... No one else will get me. Peas and Carrots...no more, I am going to do my best to follow Dr Suess' and "Smile because it happened". It truly is a blessing, most teachers' never get to experience what you and I have.
