Y'all. Apparently our across the alley neighbors adult daughter's family has moved in with them. She has about a 4 year old little boy. They have set up an inflatable pool with a slide attached in their backyard for him, which is directly across the alley from my bedroom windows. They go out early in the morning (like 630) and he screeches at the top of his lungs. They go out late. They go out at all hours. I'm all for kids having fun but the incessant screeching is driving me nuts.

I wouldn't have let my kids screech like that at all hours when they were little. It bothers neighbors and sounds like the kid is in danger or something. I always told my daughter to save any screaming like that for if she needed help due to danger.

And yes I know.....I sound like the cranky old "get off my lawn you whippersnappers!" lady.

It's the screeching that does me in too. Our neighbors have a pool and kids over all summer, and I don't mind the laughing and shouting but when they start shrieking, I start getting irritated.

How annoying! Do you have a noise ordinance? You need one. At least no noise like that until 8 AM and none after 10 PM. You poor thing. Maybe just walk over and ask if the child could enjoy the water slide without a scream each time. Hopefully they will be respectful of your need for more quiet.

The screaming is something I have noticed with our neighbor kids also. Very annoying. (Along with their dad’s constant “drill sergeant” coaching)

What's weird is he's just running around screeching. It's not even just when he goes down the slide. And mom or grandma is out there and it doesnt seem to bother them at all.

Do you think he could have some type of condition?

Constant screaming! No wonder you are going crazy. I am so sorry. I hate confrontation but I think you need to go talk to them. Hopefully you can appeal to their sense of fairness.

Maybe he is been cooped up in a home without an outdoor space and he is just so happy to be outdoors. Hopefully he will calm down soon to his new reality.

No I don't think he has any kind of special needs. I have chatted with them before and he seems like a typical 4 year old.

I definitely would have a nice discussion with them, especially about the 6:30 A.M. noise!

So sorry! That would be worse than my neighbor's dog barking all day.

I am sorry this is happening. We have kids across the street 3 year old twins that will scream once in awhile and about gives me a heart attack. I can't imagine them doing it all the time. Our next door neighbor's little dog will bark at us if we are out in the back but they do eventually take it in.
