Our school has had Title I math for grades 3-5 and reading 1-3, so third grade was the only overlapped grade.
This year they added reading for grades 3-5. We are departmentalized in 4th and 5th, so the schedule was a nightmare.
The problem is reading and math serve 15 of the same students (for both). This means they are being pulled out for 80 minutes of instructional time.
If you school has this same situation, do you serve for both math AND reading. It seems we should serve for one or the other, since we should be supporting and the way it is we take up way too much of their instructional time in class.
Any suggestions?
