Is anyone using The Daily 5 reading program at your school? What do you think of it ? Are you seeing some positive changes with your student's reading ? How are you using it in your Title 1 class?
Thanks

Clip to ScrapBook #2

This is my first year as Title 1 and I decided to try Daily 5 in my Title 1 classroom. My kids LOVED it. There is so much research to support that kids need more sustained silent reading time and how that reading time leads to improvement in other areas of Reading. While my schedule this year was not perfect and I will tweak it for next year, this is what it looks like:

Monday: Whole Group Mini Lesson
Tuesday: Whole Group Mini Lesson
Wednesday: Word Wall Wednesday (aka "word work", somehow coorelating to the mini lesson)
Thursday: Daily 3 (Students choose Read to Self, Read to Someone, Listen to Reading)
Friday: Daily 3

On Thursday and Friday I am able to work with students one-on-one and in smaller groups.
