I just got the ok to buy $2000 worth of books for my 4th and 5th grade Title students. Could anyone recommend a good book series or any other resources you have found useful?

My fourth grade boys were really excited about the Gary Paulsen books last year. They kept coming asking for more.

The Dear America series and I am America historical fictions are good as well. They are a good way to learn social studies as well.

I tend to stay away from the comercial books ( movies , TV) because they seem to fade away.

Island and Everest are good adventures as well. I can't remember the author right now, but girls and boys enjoyed them. Each has 3 in the series I think.

Also anything with dogs! Winn Dixie, The Summer of Riley, No more Dead Dogs,
