Does every single poster/picture that you hang up need to be educational? My classroom is huge and empty and I was thinking about putting some calming pictures up, but they really aren't educational at all.

I'm having that same problem this year. I have always ONLY included educational things on my wall that served a specific purpose. Now I am at a new school and my classroom is HUGE. My 32 desks only fill half of my classroom space. I only have one white board, one chalkboard and a small (4x4) bulletin board.

I think it is ok to include other things. I am getting ready to purchase some book posters for my walls. They won't serve a specific purpose other than I like the books. I think calming posters, motivational posters are fine to put up.

You could always put them up and then put a quote beside them to tie it in some how.

I agree. I think the problem comes when very little is educational and the room is heavily decorated with 'stuff'.

I also use quotes and sayings....how to be a friend, following rules, setting goals, etc. I also have decorative things like large fabric butterflies, kites, etc.
