Received earlier today:

Dear Mr. Angelo,

We had a phone conference scheduled for 12:30 p.m. today.

I received a call from 'UNKNOWN' a few moments ago. If this was you, kindly unblock your number and call back. I do not accept calls from unknown numbers. Since you have my number, it seems only fair that I should have yours as well.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Signed

Mr. Smith

And..... nope.

Nope, not ever giving out personal numbers!

My district is now enabling a program where we can call on our computer and the caller ID will list the school phone number. Or you could use a google number.

Seems like a person would answer a call coming in at a pre-specified time. Geez

That is just whackadoodle! The things you have to deal with are just insane. I'm sorry that you have so much material to write about with these yahoos.

It would be NOPE for me as well. You, the teacher, called at the appointed time. You have done your part. End of story.

The feeling of entitlement of some parents and their offspring is mind boggling! And infuriating.

Angelo, I've missed you. Glad to see this post! I'd never give parents my personal phone number. A parent that demands a phone number is the very parent who calls late Saturday night expecting homework support. Yeah, a parent who is such a prima donna they can't take calls from an unknown number can just live with out the phone conference. No loss.

Welcome back, Angelo.

Welcome back!! I imagine you have a plethora of stories.

Call me crazy but I'd be willing to bet that one of the main purposes of the wish to be contacted was so the parent could obtain your phone number.

There are teachers who choose to provide their cell number to parents. That's definitely a choice I'm not ever planning to make.

, it's always something with the parents at your school, Angelo! If it isn't one thing, it's another. I'd almost think you were making them up but went to a similar type school and know you're underestimating the craziness rather than exaggerating it (sadly). How in the world do you put up with it? Do you bless their hearts often and repeatedly?

So happy to see you back, I've missed your stories. I bet there have been some humdingers because of schools in the pandemic.

I would respond with this:

Mr. Smith,
You've indicated that you missed my call. Please email me with a request for another phone conference. Once the conference time has been established, you can then expect to receive a call from "UNKNOWN" at the scheduled time. Please answer your phone if you wish the scheduled conference to take place.
Signed

"UNKNOWN"

Let him decide if he wants to schedule another conference.
