Do any of your states/areas host parent conferences? Many years ago we held 3 or 4 parents conferences/workshops around our state. Our schools took parents to these conferences, provided box lunches, etc. Teachers and paraprofessionals also could attend. We did away with them about 10 years ago. Just curious to see if anything like this exists in other states.

When I taught Title I in Michigan, I was told I could offer to have some parents go to the CN+4 conference with me. That was an annual conference in Midland at which I learned a lot. That was in the fall of '95 and '96, so I don't know what's currently going on there. Here in Missouri, I've not heard of anything at all to bring parents to. Here, our district has offered classes in Love and Logic and other types of parenting classes for the parents, but I can't tell you whether they were well-attended or not.

In Illinois, the annual Title 1 Conference is in February, in Chicago...
It is about a 3 hour train ride from where I teach. I have seen Chicago area parents there, but it is not accessible for our local people.
