How many Title I teachers are in your district?

In my district we serve 2 schools (targeted assisted). There are two teachers in one building, serving first and second grade. Another building has one teacher serving first grade. Each of those buildings is funding, in part, all day kindergarten. This year we will have no assistants. We also have a Title I coordinator.

Do you have regular Title I meetings? I think we are going to have them this year, and I've been led to believe that since I am the senior Title I teacher, I will be asked to lead them. Not sure what that will be about, but I guess I will find out soon - school starts in one week!

Our Title program is an after school program and we have about 15 teachers per campus (three or four per grade level). We have classes for 8 weeks and then a week of meeting/planning.

Just at my school we have 2 Title 1 preschool teachers with 2 paras
There is 2 reading specialists with 1 para and 1 READ 180 teacher.
25 Title one teachers in the district and about 10 paras .
We usually meet at the begining of the year. The preschool meets about once a month. Read 180 meets about once a month but the others meet 3 times at the most. Years ago the others met monthly.
Sometimes there is just so many programs going on that it hard to fit in all the meeting for the administration.

We have two Title I preschool teachers, fully implemented Reading Recovery with 6 teachers who also do early literacy with the Kindergarten, and one teacher apiece for 2nd-5th grade for reading. These reading teachers work with one grade level only and each grade level has between 230-270 students.

We have one Title I meeting, one of our workdays before school starts, in which we all get general information from our director. The rest of us are excused and the Reading Recovery teachers continue with the director. She attempted to hold regular monthly meetings but last year started meeting with us monthly by school building. In my building, there is one other teacher so our meetings involved 3 of us only and we spoke about the issues facing us.

It is amazing to me to read all the different posts and see how very different Title I is in different states and in different schools.

My district is small....under 1500 kids. We are targeted assistance. The principal in my building coordinates the program. (Well, sends in the paperwork. To coordinate it, he might have to get off his chair!! ) There are 2 teachers housed in my school. I do grades 3-5 and our Catholic school and the other gal does 1-2 and goes over to our other K-2 building for part of the day. Our buildings are oddly configurated, so hence the odd division. We also have a middle school gal, which is our grades 6-8. That program is run more like an at risk-study hall type of thing.

We have 2 'official' meetings a year, but we are required to attend all the regular staff meetings. We are pretty much left on our own and our state monitors us about every 4-5 years.

Are there any advantages to becoming a reading specialist over a reading teacher for Title I?
