Another snow make up day

We'll have another snow day to make up. I'm ready for spring. Just wondering how many missed days does your state require you to make up? Here in IN we must make up every single day. The state superintendent requires us to go 180 days no matter what! Guess we'll be going till the fourth of July!

We have four snow days built into our year. We also report minutes, instead of days. We are using our final snow day tomorrow. If we have any additional days they just tack extra minutes onto each day, not additional days.

We have to have 180 also. You'd think that they would work some extra days into the schedule for snow but NOOOO. They've already cancelled school tomorrow because of ice. That's even before the possible foot of snow to come. Tomorrow will be our 5th snow day so far.

We have two left, one after tomorrow. I believe that we will make up days in the end, because we go past our 180 required days.

Snow Day

We have one snow day built into our schedule, and so far we haven't used it, however if we get the blizzard Wednesday, I would hope they use it then. Though if we don't use it we will have a 4 day weekend Memorial weekend. I don't know if it is mandated by the federal government or at the state level, but all the states I am familiar with require 180 days of school for students.

Today is our 6th snow day and most likely tomorrow will be the 7th. We have already used up the 5 days built in to the calendar. Who knows what will happen in the days to come. I can't believe we won't have at least 2 more. We've had snow days in April before!

We've had 6, tomorrow will be 7. School was originally scheduled to end June 17 (earlier if we have fewer than 5 snow days). Today means we carry into the next week in June.

This is the ONLY benefit of starting before Labor Day: We could have another 7 snow days after tomorrow and not violate the contract that gets us out by July 1.

There is a new rumor about them taking vacation, but I can't see how that makes sense since we have so much of June available. And attendance is an issue - taking vacation wouldn't help the attendance issue - I wouldn't be there.

private school

I work in a private school and we must follow state law for time...180 days AND 990 hours. My principal will not even LOOK at an ending date until April vacation. Not bad for all other teachers, but I am the terminal grade and we do a formal graduation! I don't get a lot of time to do finals, dinner dance, AND graduation...oy!

Snow Days

After we make up 5 snow days, I believe the rest are considered "Acts of God" and do not have to be made up. I think that is how it is, anyway. Illinois.

Today makes 3 snow days for us and they only had 1 2/ built in this year. Grrrr. Haven't heard when we will make up the days or if they'll add some minutes to the school day.

We won't be going back to school this week. The snow is falling and we are supposed to get over 20 inches.

Our built in days are gone so starting today we add on to the last day. It looks like we might be out the rest of the week. I'm just hoping I don't lose electricity.

snow days

We have two snow days built in and have used those. We often get out early (today!) or delayed start to avoid losing too much. Our state expects 180 days, but our district wants 182. We will lose April vacation if needed.
I love reading all these posts and the interesting info you share, esp. way out west!

Snow Days

Here in NJ we have to be in school 180 days, so every day we miss has to be made up. We only have one built into our calendar this year and we already used it.

our district builds in 5 snow days...if we don't use them we get days off like the Friday before Memorial day and days like that...
we'll be using our 2nd snow day tomorrow. We had our first in December. IT is possible that we'll also have Thursday if the winds continue to blow...so I say blow wind blow...

make up for spring break

We did not have snow days built in this year and we've had two snow days so far. We just found out yesterday that our days will be taken out of spring break. I think we are doing this so we aren't losing any test prep days before the test in May.

8 days now

Tomorrow will be our 8th snow day. We have 5 built into our calendar and are tacked on at the end of the year. We know our ending date without any snow days and with 5 days used. But the extra 3 are Act of God Days and do not have to be made up. At least that is what happened 2 years ago when we used 6 days and didn't have to make up the 6th day. We are in Illinois. That was the first time we used more than 5 days since I've been teaching (19 years).
