I'm thinking about going to the CAFE workshop offered this summer. It's very expensive so I want to check here to see if anyone has been to a CAFE workshop. What did you think?

If you can make it happen I would do it. I went to see the Sister's last summer. The did a great job of really explaining CAFE and showing us how to put together our Pensive. You do get a DVD w/ the conference and they have a few other surprises up their sleeves. I have heard talk of a book tying together CAFE and Daily 5. They might be talking about that too. They are very good at answering questions and talking one on one after the actual session and talk to us. They really helped us with specific issues we were having. I hope you are able to go! Good Luck!

I attended the D5 conference a year ago and CAFE last summer and they were both completely worth it. It made everything SO much clearer!! I know it is a difficult decision, but if you can swing it I would definitely go.

It is very worth it. Two summers ago I went to a full 2 day conference (one day Daily 5, one day CAFE). I paid $200 and it was worth every penny. I learned more in that one conference than I've probably learned in every conference and workshop put together!

I also went to a full 2 day conference (D5 and CAFE)---very valuable.

I think you should start each this spring....then, many of the comments/suggestions/questions in the presentations have more meaning to you.

Thanks for the recommendations. This one is just CAFE for one day and it's close to 300! But I think I'll go for it.

I don't know if it will make a difference, but you can take it off on your taxes as a work-related expense. Have a wonderful time!

... but I asked my principal if there was any money to pay for me to go this past fall and he paid for me and two others to attend a one day conference on D5/ CAFE combined.
I would have still paid myself though because it was definitely worth it!

I went in October. It was fabulous. It's worth every cent. Register early because the conference fills up quickly.

I also went in October and it was well worth it! I had not implemented CAFE when I went to the workshop, but I got so much out of it! Summer weather has to be better too--I was driving home in a freak snowstorm!

Thanks for the suggestion. My principal is paying for a little bit of it so that's nice. I'm looking forward to it. Based on all of your responses it should be great.

They are coming to my state also this summer and are offering 4 days of workshops: D5, CAFE in the Classroom and Beautiful Classroom Design, as well as D5 for kgtn. Each workshop is about $300. Any suggestions on wich one would be most informative? I'm leaning towards CAFE and Classroom Design. TIA!

I'm attending the CAFE workshop because I'm just starting to use bits of it this year for the first time. I think hearing them, rereading the book, etc. will help me make decisions for how I want to use it next year.
