Jaycee Dugard's book, A Stolen Life. It's very upsetting, but amazing that her story took place right in the middle of a neighborhood. She encourages more of us to pay attention to what's going on in the lives of people around us.

I've wondered how that book is. I can imagine it's upsetting. So glad she finally escaped!

I SO want to read her book! I looked for it at the bookstore tonight but they sold out. That's okay though because my mom bought it and is going to read it and then will let me borrow it. It wouldn't make sense to buy it too but I so want to read it!

I would like to read her book. It just boggles my mind about how this happened. I wonder how I would deal with it if it were me that happened to.

I'm going to have to download that book. Hope they have it for the nook.

Would it make a good book club read?

I just requested it at the library.

Quote:
Current estimated availability: approximately 1288 days.
Looks like I'll get to read it in 3 1/2 years.

Reading It

I want to read it also.

What amazes me is how lax the parole system here in CA (not sure about elsewhere) is. They don't question/look in the backyard of someone who was convicted of Kidnapping/Rape! The women who sent him to prison the first time was in a storage unit. Let's think about this, he has all these hiding places in his backyard, he was convicted of kidnapping.

I watched her interview and her composure was amazing. To have a child at 14 under those circumstances and then another a couple years later, just amazing.

I hope she makes millions off of the book. She and her daughters should be able to go to any college they want (if they want).

What an amazing story...Jaycee is such a survivor. My oldest Daughter wanted to read it after me, she is 16..but I am having second thoughts about letting her..it is a very graphic book in some parts, but such a lesson in hope and resilience!

I downloaded it for my Nook and I couldn't put it down. It was sad, disgusting in parts, and amazing! I can't believe he was able to hide her in the middle of a neighborhood for 18 years and got away with it even with regular parole officer visits. It really makes you think about who your neighbors are and staying vigilant to be observant of what's going on in the neighborhood.
I really admired Jaycee for how brave she was and how despite her situation she always found something positive to find whatever happiness she could.
I hope her book makes millions too. She, her daughters, and her family deserve it!
