I saw the cutest picture of using a straw dispenser to dispense of pencils. They seem very expensive. Has anyone actually tried this? Does it work? I would like to know before I spend $40 on a straw dispenser.

I have seen them work with straws. It is a very simple machine that works well.

One of my teammates has one in her classroom that she uses for pencils. I have not seen it open, but I know she really likes it. So, I assume it works well with pencils too.

I bought one off Ebay for $23 including shipping. I LOVE it! My personal children are playing with it, so I know it dispenses.

however, would students say that they don't have a pencil just so they can use the dispenser? My students always lose their pencils so it makes me wonder if this would make it even worse????

This plastic one is really cute, and she only paid $17 for it.

http://www.amazon.com/Prodyne-F-36-A...s=straw+holder

Amazon has several. All prices. Some are plastic and some are glass. I like this kind because you can see the pencils and it takes up less space on the surface where it sits since the pencils are stored vertically.
