I just saw this on FB, and thought it looked fun.

I'll start: I saw Boston in concert

I also saw Boston. But the amazing part was that Billy Joel was the opening act! The rowdy crowd did not seem to like Billy Joel.

John Denver with Starland Vocal Band as the opening act.

REM opening for the Police in the Synchronicity Tour. This was REM's first larger venue tour experience, I believe.

At age 7 I saw The Commodores with a Taste of Honey My next concert, age 8-10ish, was to see the Bee Gees. I didn't see another concert until my teens and that was Bon Jovi (*swoon).

I can't imagine Billy Joel as opening for Boston. I love them both! I have typically hated opening acts.
Love, love, love Linda Ronstadt, PoohBear! My DH also had (has) a crush on her, as do I. Heart would be fantastic to see in concert! I also love John Denver. Barbara Mandrell is a blast from the past for me, I bet she was terrific in concert! Commodores and Bee Gees, how very '70s - awesome!

Oh, boy, will this date me!
When I was in college, I saw The Doors in Los Angeles, and later that year The Animals, The Who, and some other bands I don't remember at the San Francisco music festival. As was typical of that "summer of love," 5 or 6 of us piled into a Volkswagen bug and drove up there from L.A.

James Taylor and Carole King about 12 years ago. Only concerts since since have been Straight no Chaser. Unless the AJR concert that was live-streamed that DD bought herself for Christmas counts. I really enjoyed it!

My first “concert,” I was in kindergarten and saw Garth Brooks at the Rodeo (in small town East Texas). He had made it big, between booking and the when it came time to actually perform. In college I saw Billy Currington & Blake Shelton (different years) at the same rodeo.

My first (maybe only) major arena concert, I saw *NSYNC at Texas Stadium. I won tickets on the radio.

13 I saw the Monkees, yeah 13.

When I was 21, in a small venue, Bruce Springsteen before he made it big. We were in the second row. Great show, his music was raw, not over produced. Clarence standing out of course!
Our local "underground" radio station really pushed the new, up and coming people like Bruce, Emmy Lou and John Stewart.

Fascinating to see who everyone likes! I saw a LOT of concerts when I was in high school and college, most near LA. Due to fun, some memories are lost. cvt, I’m pretty sure I saw The Animals at the Hollywood Bowl.

Best old days concert: Joe Cocker with Mad Dogs & Englishmen (Leon Russell). I remember that one vividly—even what I wore. It was at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium.

DH grew up in Northern California and when he and his friends were in HS, they used to go to The Fillmore. Imagine, Janis Joplin in a small venue.

I've only been to one because I HATE HATE HATE large crowds and loud music! I went to see Blessid Union of Souls in 2000 when they played at a local university. I was in 5th grade. My dad worked at the university and was getting paid an extra stipend to handle the security for the concert. He snuck me in! !

Neil Young

The Grateful Dead

Are just a few.

They had so many great concerts at the Hollywood Bowl! Back then tickets were not outrageously expensive as they are now, so I think we got to see a lot more concerts than other generations.

Led Zeppelin 1975
Aerosmith 1975
Nazareth 1976
Heart 1977
Eagles/Pablo Cruise/Steve Miller Band 1978

You wouldn't guess from this that I'm a classical musician, would you? For what it's worth, I also heard Andre Watts, Lazar Berman and Jorge Bolet during those years.

IMO The Doors were one of the few bands better on records. Jim Morrison was pretty obscene on stage. IMO he was a huge talent, but very troubled—and drugs didn’t help. A friend at UCLA had a huge fan crush on him and found out where The Doors’ office was (I think it was on Santa Monica Blvd.). She stalked the place, finagled an invitation to a party, and (without going into details) was treated very poorly by Morrison. I loved him as a musician, but he was a pretty lousy human being. IMO

This is so fun! I am jealous of those who got to see great concerts like the Who, the Doors, Janis Joplin, Heart, etc.
My first concert was Rush, probably touring on their first album. I had tickets to see Emerson, Lake, and Palmer in 8th grade with my brother, but a boy asked me to the high school play that same night, and I had never been asked out before. I could kick myself now.

In high school I saw Styx. DH and I have seen (from probably 2007 to 2018) Fleetwood Mac (minus Christine McVie), Billy Joel twice, Pomplamoose, Norah Jones, Santana, and Stevie Wonder.

I think Bryan Adams in 1986 was my first concert but I'm not positive. I wish I could say that my first concert was Live Aid but a)I didn't have cool parents, and b)we couldn't afford concert tickets anyway.

My first was Bad Company in the 90s. I was in high school and I really think it was on a school night. I stayed at my boyfriend's house and had to get up early and drive home to get ready for school the next morning. I cant imagine letting my child go to a concert on a school night.

The one and only concert I have gone to was Men at Work.

Lie. I went to Rhianna with/for my dd. I have gone to a Pink Floyd light show (does that count?).

I saw Diana Ross and the Supremes in concert. She introduced the audience to Michael Jackson who then was still a kid. Great show!

My favorite pop/rock concert was Creedence Clearwater Revival. It was a packed audience. I am a life long fan.

The above concerts were during my college days. I also attended many classical music concerts, all of which I loved. I still enjoy classical music concerts several times a year.

Sometimes in the 80s I had my first concert experience seeing Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. It was my mom's first concert too.

I took my 5 year old niece to her first concert experience 30 years ago. We saw New Kids on the Block.

Almost all my concerts have been Billy Joel or Indigo Girls

But I did also go to Garth Brooks (through dh's work, we met him, too) and someone whose concert I slept through. I'm trying to think of who he was. It's on the tip of my brain. If I remember, I'll post it.

Located in San Francisco was a famous music venue called Fillmore West. At this venue, I saw Led Zeppelin, Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, and Santana, and Aretha Franklin. Many years later, I sat in the front section of a Rolling Stones concert!

My first concert was a triple header with Tesla, Great White, and the Badlands. \m/ I was fifteen. My favorite concert was ACDC on their Razor's Edge Tour when I was a junior in high school.

I am very jealous of some of the concerts you all have attended!

I am extremely jealous that JanetL saw the Beatles.
