Crazy Housing Market

We put my parentsí house on the market at around 2:30 this afternoon. The realtor stopped by to put the sign in the yard after school, someone called wanting to see the house while she was there, and we already have an offer.

Thereís an open house tomorrow afternoon and more showings in the morning. This is looking promising.

I'm sure you'll get great offers in this market! My teammate put the house she bought 5 years ago on the market. Sold for $260K more than what she paid. It's crazy right now.

Wow. We tried to sell our condo in 2019 to move and ended up staying here because we couldnít sell it. I still bet that even with the market the way it is in most places, that we still would not be able to sell it. A lot of people have been moving out of Illinois to neighboring states that have lower taxes and cost of living.

Good luck with the sale It is hard to say goodbye to the memories but the new owners will build great memories too. The market is doing well here but very few homes for sale. This has driven up prices considerably.

The house adjacent to Momís is pending sale for almost $100,000 more. Itís on a more desirable street, even though there is only one empty lot that technically separates them.

The PVA once told my parents their house would be valued at twice the price if it faced the other street.

Our realtor is showing it four times tomorrow, then having an open house in the afternoon. She expects we will have several offers.

Is lovely! I love ranch style homes and I especially like the very large yard. I can see why people have been asking when it was going to be sold. I imagine youíll have a bidding war tomorrow.

house prices

What gets me is how much different pricing is different places! That size house and yard in Northern VA is going to be 550k+ and probably more like 750k+

This one is similar size and age as your folks' house just outside of DC. Asking 725k!

how home prices differ from state to state. I'm from Colorado, but live in Maryland now. And in both states, that home would go for over 400K, easy. Depending on where you were in each state, it could be higher. If it was in Maryland but close to DC, about 700K. If it was in Colorado, it would go for about 700K in Boulder, but would sell for about 300K in say, Pueblo.

I just sold my deceased brother's house in Colorado Springs. VERY, VERY distressed property, distressed like you wouldn't even believe. We put it on the market for 245K and it sold the first day for 285K.

When we watch Home Town (which we love), we are always blown away by how inexpensive houses are in Laurel, Mississippi. You can't even get a townhouse in a questionable development here for under 300K.

It's a really nice house. It sounds like it will sell fast. Ranch homes are my favorite. I don't like houses with multiple floors. It's a good house.

It looks to be in good condition and quite attractive. In my area it would likely be at least $500,000. Maybe you should arrange to move it!

My parents were always good at maintaining the house and yard. Mom had let it go a little since she had been sick, but nothing a professional housekeeper and some yard work couldnít fix.

All we did was replace the air conditioning and furnace. The realtor commented on what good shape it is in. She says she sells homes in much worse condition.

We got our first offer yesterday, for over asking price. We are supposed to get another one today. First one doesnít have any contingencies. The other one is contingent on selling their house. Iíll know their offer today. We expect others as well.

Great news! It's a great time to be selling a house. Not so great to be seeking one though...
