My pencil sharpeners arrived today. I feel like a kid in a candy store. I had to open one right away to try it out, and lets just say I sharpened quite a few pencils that were around the house. My 9yo DS said, "Mom, what is so great about a pencil sharpener." I guess he does not understand, but he got on the band wagon and wanted to try too.

to arrive. How long did it take to get yours after you ordered them?? Isn't it sad that we get giddy over something so simple!?! I will HAVE to "play" with mine when they arrive, too.

It is so fun. I was protective of mine at first (since my kids have broken many electric ones) but eventually "trained" kids to use it. It became the most sought after job/activity. I haven't had to sharpen a pencil since . I just wish I could have bought a blue one. Those are pretty!

Mine is the new blue colored one from Classroom Friendly supplies. It is not electric so it is very quiet! I can't wait to put it in the classroom! I can get in my room next week! I bring all my stuff home, so I will have a truck load to bring in, plus all I've purchased and made this summer!

I just ordered mine this weekend and got them today.

jvar87 and alb26- these are the pencil sharpeners by Classroom Friendly Supplies. Everyone raves about them, so after listening to it for over a year, I finally decided to buy some. They seem really great!

Didn't know they had blue now!
My 1st graders caught on quickly last year. We figured out that it takes 13-15 cranks to get a completely unsharpened pencil sharp. It takes awhile for them to be able to 'feel' when it's sharpened. There is definitely a 'feel' to it. We also had to learn how to not get them SO SHARP.

I got my pretty blue one today too! I am going to be selfish and not let my 2nd graders use it for a while. I can't wait to show off my new sharpener!!!

I was so excited when the box arrived!

So, after trying them out, what do you think? Is it really worth it? I've already spent so much money this summer! I've got to draw the line somewhere, but these look kinda cool...if they really work!

I had to do the same thing! I ran around trying to find new pencils. Then I remembered I had the packages I bought from Staples last week in my car. I think I am going to have to order another one if my school won't buy them for us!

This will definitely be show at our first team meeting and our first leadership meeting!

I thought it was great when I tried it! It is quiet and sharpens the pencils so nicely. My DH even had to try it when he got home.

I tried it on my kitchen table, but I think it was too thinks. Not quite sure about what to do, but it does work just fine holding it.

My blue pencil sharpener arrived today! It is an even prettier blue than it looked online. I, too, sharpened every pencil in my house. (Is that strange?) I am not sure I will be able to share with my sixth graders. (Is that selfish?) I ordered mine in early July and it arrived today. Definitely worth the wait. If you even kind of need a new pencil sharpener, order yours today! Don't wait! It is sooooo worth it! (Have I totally lost it?)

Yes, it is very much worth it.
Mine has never been anchored, but that's not a problem. It's easy to hold. My 1st graders can do it, after being taught.
