I retired several years ago after teaching 19 years in Texas. Previously, I taught in the California Bay Area. Like anywhere, there are great districts and not great districts. My district here is a nationally recognized district and one of the very best in the state. I enjoyed teaching here. Lots of community support for the district and teachers.

If your sister is interested in teaching in Texas then she needs to do her homework about areas/districts she is interested in living/teaching in. I’d stay away from the large cities and look at smaller communities with top rated schools and good community support.
