Long Term Sub Job Starting Mon!

Hi all,

My long term music sub job was not supposed to start until after winter break in Jan. However, the teacher had her baby last night, over a month early! Now i will start Monday. This means I do not get my shadow days like I was supposed to have (paid, mind you) and the other music teacher and I will be working this weekend to figure out plans (for this I am greatful!). I am excited but a little nervous since I haven't had any time to prepare the music! Now I have to do a winter concert and other field trip events.

Of course, the $210 a day and $30 an hour for each extra hour I spend on rehearsals and concerts is a perk.

Ah, 6-12 weeks of not constantly checking for sub jobs. Whooohooo!

Sounds like it could be a fun and rewarding job once you get past the hit-the-ground running part.
I subbed the past two days for the music specialist, and I've decided that in my next life I want to be a music teacher!

Congrats! Sounds like a great opportunity to show your stuff (and earn some $$$).

I didn't get my shadow days either. Luckily, I had stopped in for an hour after school about 3 days earlier to go over some things. I think the principals need to quit putting off the shadowing of subs, yes, a month early is unexpected. And my situation she went on bed rest, it happens, and they need to take that into consideration. Of course it saves them some money, and with the budget crunch, they are probably thrilled about that.
