Interview Advice

Clip to ScrapBook #1

I have been teaching for 10 years, and I am looking to relocate. I have an interview set up with another district, but I am not sure what to expect. Do people still bring portfolios? I read something about mini portfolios being a thing now. Any advice would be very much appreciated.

I (teacher, department chair) have been in about 15 interviews in the past 3 years. The one person who brought a portfolio was otherwise unimpressive (very weird personality, never taught anywhere for more than 1 year), but I have to admit the portfolio did help.

I don't think it could hurt at all, and if is between you and someone else, that could tip the scales in your favor. Just keep in mind that the amount of time they would spend during the interview itself will be tiny. It'll be something you leave with them. They'll want to talk to you rather than look at the portfolio with you.

Good luck!
